about

we started this project, accidentally, when we were all stuck at home in 2020.
a friend put the word out they were looking to do some remix/soundtrack work in the hope of making a little extra cash to cover the bills during the pandemic (because even during tragedy everyone has to hustle like it was something noble to do...)

so we thought "yeah, totally, lets see what happens" and took them up on the offer.
the result bloomed into this record because we dug the notion of folks other than ourselves trying to wrap their brains around organizing our messes.

so then we put the word out to our little world that we wanted to do some more of these, to see what other new buildings could be constructed out of our detritus.

we ended up with a nice cross-section of folks we've spent the last 20 years sharing stages, cramped tour vans and bar-tables with (and one who even went to high school with us) throwing our songs back and showing us what we probably should've done the first time around.

this is the first in a series of between-album archival "things" we're putting out in honor of doing this for as long as we have.
November 2022 will be twenty years since it started.
we've never been much for calling attention to ourselves/the business is a huge drain even when you're nobody.
but twenty years seems worthy of noting.
if anything it's an opportunity for us to thank the folks who stuck with us.
even if we acted weird that one time you said you really liked that song we played, it meant the world to us.

there's always another song/there's always another song/there's always another song...

thanks & thanks & thanks

about

things falling apart De Kalb, Illinois

the sound of old tube amps humming like angels, buzzing helicopter tremolo dancing with rickety strings, drifting analog delay, and antiquated brass bursts of joy.
